About Marilyn

"Every writer needs a sideline hobby, to take a break from the long hours of putting pen to paper.

Be a little crafty . . . it's good for the heart!
Marilyn King is an historical, inspirational writer with a heart for scattering seeds of hope into the lives of her readers. As a fiction author, she writes in frontier-style, Amish-western & Southern Antebellum with a mix of her favorite genres: action and mystery romance. As a Christian writer, I spent half of my growing-up years on a farm. I love the country charm and it has never left. Blending those elements into the stories has been a joy!

Bio

A member of the High Desert Chapter of the California Writer's Club, Marilyn co-chairs the critique groups for her hometown branch. When she is not writing, Marilyn enjoys reading, sewing, embroidery, and gardening. Marilyn and her husband, Bob, are a couple of "Yours", "Mine", and "Us." Her four and his five grown children have flown the nest leaving them to enjoy a quiet life in Apple Valley, California with their two schnauzer's Jack and Sugar and their rescue kitty, Cooper.
IT'S TIME TO SEW AGAIN . . .

Mister Cooper

Sometimes life dishes out surprises. This happened to us in the summer of 2017.  On our vacation, and while getting gas for our vehicle, we found this scrawny little kitten who was on his last leg. He dug a hole in our hearts to stay. Meet Cooper

From Mother's Hands,
Aren't they darling!
Picture

Here are a couple of my mother's, pillowcases she made over the years. Aren't they darling! Back in the 40's, 50's and before the age of televisions and computers, women spent their time making things for their home. These precious pillowcases made from my mother's hands are so special. They can be found on any    of the beds in our home.

My Favorite Pass Time

Gardening:Every spring I search out my garden to see what new flowers to put in my flower garden. I have many old fashioned farm tools intermixed with the plants. Last spring we planted corn for the first time. Since we have been  adding egg shells and coffee grinds to the soil, the ground has turned a nice
dark brown and the corn grew wonderfully. Ummm. Corn on the cob for dinner  straight from the garden was wonderful! We plan on doing it again this
spring!

Take walks: For now my walks are indoors. Trying to stay warm and well during the  frigid winter. Starting slowly, walking 10 minutes, 3 times a day. Feels  great!

It has been far too long since the last time I've ridden my bike.  That is a must as soon as the weather warms up!
